Tips for Best Results

Please bring top, backing, & batting separately. Don’t pin/ baste together.

Quilt Top
1. Be sure quilt edges are squared off and even on all sides.
2. Clip and remove all loose threads. (Lint rollers work well.)
3. Press top so seams lie flat. (Lessens the chance of pleats or tucks.)
4. Seams should be about ¼” and well-secured. We can’t be responsible for
damage that could occur if seams open during quilting.
5. Label the top of the quilt (if there is one) with a safety pinned note.
6. Stay-stitching ¼” around all 4 sides is recommended, if there are many seams on the outside edge.

Quilt Back
1. Be sure it is 6-`12” wider and 6-12” longer than quilt top.
2. On straight-grain, not bias. Sheets are not recommended.
3. Must be squared off with straight, even edges

4. Press out creases and press seams flat.
5. Recommend removing selvedge from center back seam. Leave selvedge on
       outer edges for stability.

Batting

1. You may purchase batting from us or provide your own (subject to approval.)
2. Batting is at least 6-12” wider & 6-12” longer, but not larger than quilt backing.

3. For more information click on the link to the left "Pricing Information: Batting."

Border "First Aid"
Do you stitch the border on without pinning?

Do you sew from one end to the other, then cut off the excess fabric?

Please don't.
This can result in trouble--- wavy borders, pleats or puffy/raised areas. Sometimes the only solution could be sewing a dart into the border to make the quilt lie flat.

How do we avoid this problem?
Prevention is the key!
Here's what to do.................
1. Measure your quilt lengthwise at both edges and through the middle.
2. Average the three numbers and cut your border strips that length. Pin the ends even to the quilt top. Pin again in the center. Continue pinning in the center of each section, easing gently as necessary.
3. Stitch, using a walking foot if possible..
4. Repeat the procedure with the width.
